CHIEF WARRANT OFFICER SHEILA M. KLOTZ

Chief Warrant Officer Sheila M. Klotz is a native of Brandywine MD and is the Commander of the 257th Army Band. Chief Klotz studied percussion at West Virginia University, served as Professor of Percussion Studies at St. Mary's College of Maryland and currently performs as a freelance musician, adjudicator and percussion instructor throughout the region.
Chief Klotz began her military career in The United States Air Force Band, Washington DC. She was assigned to the Ceremonial Brass as a percussionist and held positions of Assistant Section Leader, Chief of Current Operation, Special Projects Officer, NCO Club Advisory Council and Squadron Safety NCO. In 1998 Chief Klotz transferred to "The Band of the Nation's Capital" in the rank of Sergeant First Class serving the unit as Principal Percussionist, Percussion Section Leader, Recruiting and Retention NCO and Chief of Operations. In January 2001, she officially assumed command of the 257th Army Band.
During her tenure with the US Air Force, Chief Klotz completed the Air Force NCO Academy and the Command NCO Academy Correspondence Course. Her US Army education and training consists of Warrant Officer Candidate School, DC National Guard Company Commander's Course, Warrant Officer Basic Course and Warrant Officer Advanced Course.
The commander's military awards include the Meritorius Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Army Achievement Medal, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star.
