The 257th Army Band is a National Guard unit located in the capital city of our free nation. Officially recognized as "The Band of the Nation's Capital", our mission is unique in that we do not belong to a "state". We are a federal military entity that reports directly to the President.
The District of Columbia National Guard is assigned the moniker Capital Guardians and our support units are charged with overseeing the safety and security of the capital city. Our organization is comprised of both the Army and Air National Guard. The combined military units include the Mobilization Augmentation Command, 113th Wing, the Combat Support Team, Public Affairs, JAG, Medical Support and stat of the art Information Services Branch (telecommunication and information technology).
